Card counting tracks the ratio of high cards to low cards left in the shoe. When a lot of tens and aces remain, the player has the edge, so you bet more and adjust a few plays. Hi-Lo is the standard system and the one this trainer drills.
Start at zero. Add the tag of every card you see. A full deck or shoe always nets to zero, which is how you check yourself. Practice this in the Count tab until you can run through a deck quickly and land on the right number.
Divide the running count by the number of decks remaining. A running count of plus six with two decks left is a true count of three. The true count is what you actually bet and deviate on, because it measures how rich the shoe is, not just the raw total. Drill this in the True Count tab.
The higher the true count, the more you bet. At certain true counts you also change a few basic strategy plays. The most valuable changes are the Illustrious 18 and the Fab 4 surrenders. Take insurance only when the true count is plus three or higher. Learn and quiz those in the Deviations tab.

This free card counting trainer teaches the Hi-Lo system end to end. Start by drilling the running count: cards come off the shoe at a speed you set, you keep the count in your head, and you check yourself whenever you want. Switch to a single deck and race the clock to count it down, the classic drill every counter uses. Then practice true count conversion, dividing the running count by the decks remaining, since that is the number you actually bet and play on. Finally, learn and quiz the Illustrious 18 and Fab 4, the most valuable basic strategy deviations, with the exact Hi-Lo index for each. The trainer hides the count while you practice and reveals it when you check, so you build real speed instead of leaning on a crutch.
Is the card counting trainer free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with nothing to download, and it is free to use.
What card counting system does it teach?
It teaches Hi-Lo. Cards 2 through 6 count as plus one, 7 through 9 count as zero, and 10 through Ace count as minus one.
What is the difference between running count and true count?
The running count is the sum of the Hi-Lo tags for every card you have seen. The true count divides that by the decks remaining, which is what you bet and deviate on.
What are the Illustrious 18 and Fab 4?
They are the most valuable basic strategy deviations: the top playing index changes and the top surrender deviations, both built for the Hi-Lo true count.
